Cetacean monitoring involves the systematic observation and study of dolphins, whales and porpoises to collect data on their populations, behaviour, distribution and health.
Collecting long-term ecological data on wild animals is a challenging task. It is on board our tourist tours that we do this animal monitoring. This tours are an opportunity to collect ecological data, for example: species, number, age, behaviour, distribution, location. Analysing this information allows us to reflect directly on the state of these marine mammals, and indirectly also allows us to gauge the general state of the oceans. This is because population changes in marine animals are a reflection of changes in their environment and their dynamics will influence the entire marine food chain and consequently the ecosystem. This monitoring is crucial for conservation and for understanding the impact of environmental changes and human activities on these marine mammals.
Our company values the scientific aspect and therefore has biologists on every tour to enable this process to be carried out with rigour.
